Saskatoon Seller Checklist

Seller possession checklist for Saskatoon homeowners.

A practical reminder list for the final weeks before possession, utility changes, legal appointments, and move-out day.

Timing

Possession planning starts after conditions are removed.

Where to start

The seller checklist works best when we start early.

Some items need a few days. Others should be handled two to three weeks before possession after the deal is firm. Use this page as a planning guide and confirm details with your lawyer, utility providers, and mover.

Legal

Choose your lawyer and arrange your appointment well before possession.

Utilities

Book disconnects or transfers so services line up with possession.

Move-Out

Remove non-attached contents and leave the home move-in ready.

Seller reminders

Final-week tasks before possession.

  • InsuranceKeep insurance on your current home until funds are received and title has transferred. If you are also buying, your new-home insurance usually needs to be active about one day before possession.
  • LawyerChoose a lawyer and arrange your appointment about two weeks before possession when possible. Out-of-province moves may require a lawyer licensed in that province.
  • Moving vanContact your mover well in advance, especially for possession dates near the 15th or end of the month.
  • SchoolsContact schools early to transfer or register children where needed.
  • Landline, internet, cable, and securitySchedule disconnects or transfers. If monitored security is installed, arrange deactivation with your provider.
  • Heating, power, and waterAdvise utility providers at least one week before possession so meter and disconnect timing is handled properly.
  • Garbage and recyclingConfirm bin service details and leave bins according to City of Saskatoon and provider instructions.
  • Change of addressNotify Canada Post, SGI, insurance providers, credit cards, subscriptions, health care providers, and rental companies for items such as water heaters or softeners.
